Accolades of Kalaimamani awards for great artists
It was on last Saturday, 69 professionals with distinction in various art fields including small screen medium were felicitated with Kalaimamani Awards. It was chief minister M.Karunanidhi who was the chief guest of honour presenting awards to these great personalities.
Speaking to the occasion, Chief Minister said that this tradition of felicitating professionals belonging to various art forms is being followed in order to promote and protect Tamil language and culture. It is a notable thing that Karunandhi himself was recipient of Kalaimamani Award during the year 1967 where he was awarded by C. Annadurai.
On this occasion, Rajya Sabha member and daughter of M. Karunanidhi, Kanimozhi received the souvenir that was released during this occasion. Some of the notable artists who were recipients of Kalaimamani awards were Actors R. Parthiban, Simbu, Vishal, Trisha, and lyricists Pa. Vijay and N. Muthukumar.
Writer Balakumaran, vocalist Sanjay Subramanian, danseuse Padma Sampathkumaran and stage artist V.R. Thilagam, besides television actors Venu Aravindh and Balasingh, were also among the awardees.
