Advance Booking for the Name is Rajinikanth

Advance Booking for the Name is Rajinikanth

Anything on Rajnikanth sells. The advance booking frenzy is not just for his films. In the run-up to the release of the superstar’s biography, book stores in Chennai may need to take lessons in crowd management from theatres! The first print of The Name Is Rajnikanth will have 20,000 copies. That itself is quite extraordinary.

Himanshu Chakrawarti, COO, Landmark said, “20,000 copies is not big, it`s massive! I don`t recollect any other biography going for such big numbers in the first print. Enquiries have been pouring in and we are going to start advance booking in a day or two. “The 385 page book on the superstar’s life is this city doctor’s maiden venture. Replete with interesting snippets about the superstar from his childhood. his rise to the top, his spiritual bent and his rapport with co stars like Kamal Haasan.

Dr Gayathri Sreekanth, author said, “Not just from the masses, I`ve been getting enquiries from professionals. The expectation is mind boggling.”The book will be translated into Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and yes Japanese too. That will happen in April. But die hard Rajini fans are in no mood to wait!

Kulandai Yesu, a fan said, “I will stand in the queue and buy the book, even if it’s English. I can at least see the photographs. This book is being launched on March 6 at Taj Connemara in Chennai by Amitabh Bachchan.

  1. Oh my word! give me a break Dr.Gayathri or whoever you are. You are money minded and think any trash is enogh to brin fame and fortune. Spend your life helping poor people to regain their eye sight if you know what you are doing. Lady get of the high horse and do some solid work for mankind.

  2. what kind of doctor you are? dont follow the actors and write about them because they are only heros in the movies not in real life.if you want to write then you should think of our soldiers, the real heros of india.if you want to earn money and fame then this might be the best way, because our country is like that.

  3. ohh…nice post but really???? :P

  4. doctors should not waste time writing actors and should concentrate on treating people with health problems. Wake up and do some real work!

  5. Super-Duper site! I am loving it!! Will come back again - taking you feeds also, Thanks.

  6. The book is written by Dr.Gayathri Sreekanth and costs a sum of Rs.500/- which I feel is not worth while.

The book boasts about detailing the rise of a person who was born in a poor family to become an indispensable asset in Indian film industry. The narration was wishy washy with a glimpse to the past and the present next to one another. Apart from the absurd spelling mistakes what makes me sick is the authenticity of the information provided in the book as few details such as his birth chart, family members gender and other trivias has been conveniently changed. For example, the superstar has a grandson wherein the book claims it to be a girl in one section and as a boy in the other. And it goes in depth explaining his birth chart as one belonging to Simha Lagna wherein the chart pictures a Kadaga Lagna.

After spending a sum of Rs.500/- I feel being cheated about information which gives me an impression not to believe in any other details explained in the book. I would seriously suggest the author to do her ground work and research properly before taking a pen in her hands or continue with her more dignified medical profession.

  7. Generally I do not post on blogs, but I would like to say that this post really forced me to do so! really nice post.

  9. I read the book “The Name is Rajnikanth” last week (english version).
The book is full of mistakes. Both factual mistakes as well as spelling mistakes.
I am really surprised that the author has no knowledge on Rajnikanth’s films or its titles. I am really surprised that the publisher has not taken any efforts to run the book through some ardent rajnikanth fans to check some facts relating to his movies.
It was sad reading the book with so many mistakes. I am going to send the book back to the publisher and ask for a refund of Rs 490. (some sample of mistakes: a) Rajni’s role as police Alex Pandian is in movie called Moondru Mugam and not Moondru Mudichu. b) Rajni was not the hero of Aboorva Raagangal. It was Kamal. c) Rajni’s movie Moondru Mudichu is not a slap stick comedy. Its a serious story and Rajni is a serious villain in that movie. Rajni’s slap stick comedy with K.Balachander was Thillu Mullu and not Moondru Mudichu. d) Rajni and Sivakumar acted in Bhuvana oru Kelvikurri and not in Bhuvana oru kavi Kuyil. Kavi Kuyil is a different movie by itself. e) Director Shankar had nothing to do with the movie Johnny. Johnny was directed by Mr Mahendran. The list of mistakes is endless. It was frustrating to read the book. Hope Mr and Mrs Rajnikanth read this book fully before they attend various functions and launch the book in other parts of the world.
