Captain topples Kuruvi
Arasangam had a wonderful opening at the box office. This film managed to have full houses in both urban and rural centres. Interestingly for the first time Vijayakanth has managed to attract maximum crowd in multiplexes too. Vijayakanth’s Arasangam has emerged as winner in the box-office race for supremacy this week-end overtaking Vijay’s Kuruvi.
Kuruvi, a much-hyped movie, directed by Dharani and produced by Udayanidhi Stalin, hit the screens a couple of weeks ago, followed by Arasangam (150th film of Vijayakanth). Since both the actors enjoy good fan-following, expectations were high on the films. But Kuruvi managed mixed reviews while word-of-mouth publicity for Arasangam has been good so far.

Yes, Kuruvi was reviewed by many in different angles but when it comes to boxx office. The movie has stcuk gold for thier distributors.

Only in Chennai & Chengalpet -5.4 Cr from 23 theaters. The movie also created records by running 31 Shows in a single day on Mayajal overtaking Sivaji for 25 shows in a day. Kuruvi also managed to hold record for releasing in all big theaters like (DEVI, SATYAM, UDHAYAM & SURIYAN, SANGAM, ABIRAMI) with an average seat capacity of 1250seats for continous 9 days housefull shows. According to the sources, the movie has already made profit in just 10 days all over the world.
