Kamal Hassan replied to the court saying Dasavathram belongs to my creation and no one can take share from this. A person from Tambaram lodged complaint in Police station by claiming the story of Dasavathram is belongs to me, and Kamal stolen the story from me, as he stated in the Police Complaint, in replay Kamal Hassan said, I have experience of about 40 years in Cine industry and I was acknowledged as a best actor by Government of India by giving me Padmashree, apart from acting I also engaged in direction, editing, story writing etc. so there no need to steal story which is never knew to me.

The case is still pending in High court, which likely to give verdict after hearing from both the sides.
