Dasavathaaram on June 6th ?

And finally the cat is out of the bag, the much awaited magnum opus; Dasavathaaram will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi with 1,000 odd prints on June 6th. On the day of the film’s release, Oscar Ravichandran will feed 1,000 poor children in Chennai The story begins and ends with a scene in the 12th century and the reign of the second Kulothunga Chola.

Kamal plays the first of his ten characters, a staunch Vaishnavite priest apposing the removal of the statue of Vishnu from a Vishnu temple that the King wishes to make repair works to. Eventually as punishment for his opposition the priest is tied to the statue of Vishnu and cast into the sea. After this the story continues with Kamal Hassan donning his other nine roles, a Sikh by the name of Avtar Singh, a policeman, a scientist, a robber, a Chinese man, George W Bush, a philosopher, an old lady and one unknown role. The plot involves time-travel for the sake of stopping a recent natural disaster which is believed to be the tsunami.

KS Ravi Kumar has directed the 70-crore budget film. Interestingly the film’s story, dialogues and screenplay have been provided by Kamal Hasan. The movie will not only see Kamal Hassan playing 10 different characters, but actress Asin also plays dual roles. Bollywood sex symbol Mallika Sherawat appears as a CIA agent, while Jayaprada, the well-known character artiste, plays another important role. Oscar Ravi Chandran has produced the film under Oscar Films Pvt Limited banner. Ravi Varman is the cinematographer. Thota Tharani, Sameer Chanda and Prabhakaran are the art directors. Thangachalam is the editor.

Thyagarajan and Kanal Kannan are the fight masters. Bollywood composer Himesh Reshammiya has scored the music. The film’s re-recording has been done by Telugu composer Devi Sri Prasad.The film has been certified with a U Certificate.
