Film Bazaar at IFFI
The Film Bazaar at IFFI-2007 got underway at Goa today. Organized by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), the Bazaar facilitates the film fraternity to showcase films, products, technology and services, promotes shooting locales, besides sale and purchase of films and film production related equipments and items.
The Film Bazaar is aimed at providing an interactive platform between prospective buyers and sellers of film rights from India and abroad. The international participants, among others, for the Film Bazaar are, Global Film Initiative, Back Up Films, Onoma International, Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation, Shanghai Film Group, China Film Co-production, Arclight Films Malaysian Broadcasting Corporation, Astra and Miriam Arab of Cannes Market. Sales agents and financiers including Fortissimo Films and Paris based Memento Films, and Germany’s Pandora are set to attend the three-day event. In keeping with the objectives of NFDC, the Film Bazaar provides a platform to promote Indian cinema and to facilitate exploration of partnerships within India and abroad, both in the realms of production and distribution.
The Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, P R Dasmunsi and the Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat visited the Film Bazaar and interacted with the participants. Film Bazaar also presents 14 pre-selected projects from various parts of the country as a part of this edition. A series of discussions and workshops are also being organized as part of the Bazaar. Exclusive presentations by exhibitors profiling their products and services will also be facilitated. Several prominent Indian and foreign film production related associations and organizations are taking part in the Film Bazaar.
