Kaathavarayan to be Canned Soon
Kaathvyarayan produced by V. Ramachandran and R.S. is nearing completion. Karan plays the hero and Vidisha and Radha play the female lead in this action entertainer directed by ‘Salangai’ Durai from his story, screenplay and dialogue. Addiction to alcohol is wrong. And addiction to illicit liquor is more wrong. This was the concept to make this film. Set in the backdrop of picturesque Hogenekkal, the hero brews illicit liquor for a living. He has a rival Easwara Murthy from the same business.
But Kaathavyarayan is the numero uno of the trade in that area. This irks Murthy and he plots to eliminate the hero from the business by mixing poison in his brew. The police chase Kaathvyarayan without asserting the truth. Kaathvyarayan escapes and comes to know about Murthy’s vicious deed. The action then shifts to the city. The first half is set in the rural milieu with a forest backdrop and the second half in the metro. The hero’s get up too undergoes a change when he steps in the city. The heroine does tell him that his trade is illegal and not good for him but he will not listen. It is an incident that brings a change of heart and he renounces the illicit brew biz.
Vadivelu provides the comic relief and his character is part of the story. Salangai Durai worked under Bhagyaraja and also wrote the dialogue for Samrat Ashoka and the story for the big hit Telugu film, Dhee. Producer Ramachandran said that it is a through entertainer. Karthik Raja has done the cinematography and Srikanth Deva composed the music.
