Kanal Kanna’s Role Model is Jackie Chan
At a point in time when directors and choreographers are venturing to play the lead roles, Kanal Kannan, a high-flying stunt master in South Indian movies, has forayed to play the hero. The agile stuntman is donning the pivotal role in a movie titled Sattrumun Kidaitha Thagaval.Directed by Thakali Srinivasan, the movie is a psychological thrilller laced with humour. Ammuvagiya Naan Bharathi, Sriman, Lollu Sabha Sethu, Karunaas and Crane Manohar form part of the cast. According to Kanal Kannan, ‘it was my long time desire to play the hero. I am greatly inspired by Jackie Chan, who rose to become a popular hero in Asia after starting his career as stuntman. Kanal Kannan has worked with leading artistes like Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Vijay, Vikram, Ajit and Surya.
It is a tailor-made role for me. It has stunts, comedy and emotions given in the right mix for the audience, he adds. He plays an escapee from a lunatic asylum who barges into a lonely house where Bharathi lives. His weird antics lead her to believe that he intends to kill her. Frightened and helpless , she finds herself trapped in the maniac’s clutches. Sethu comes to her rescue. Produced by Air Media Technologies Limited; the movie has musical score by debutant Bala. R Selvaa has cranked the camera, while Thanikachalam has taken care of the editing. Says Thakali Srinivasan: ‘it is a laugh-a-minute, thrill-a-minute roller- coaster ride that is guaranteed to have the audience on the edge of their seats’.
