Kerala filmmaker to make film on R.R Varma’s works
India’s legendry artist Raja Ravi Varma’s paintings will get befitting recognition from a Kerala filmmaker who is working on a fiction film based on his work “Urvashi and Purapas”. Malayalam filmmaker Lenin Rajendran who is working on this fiction intends to showcase conflict between the painter and model in the film. South Indian actor Suresh Gopi would play Raja Ravi Varma in the film, which will commence shooting from January one next year.
Lenin s directional splendor Rathri Maza (Night Rain) is competing with other international movies in the competition section of International film festival of India (IFFI) which was kicked off yesterday by Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan. Lenin is not the only one playing with the subject of Raja Ravi Varma. Bollywood filmmaker Ketan Mehta, maker of `Mangal Pandey, the Rising’ , today said he has almost finished the film on legendary painter s life which will be released in March next year. The film is based on Marathi novel Raja Ravi Varma written by Ranjit Desai. It is made in English and Hindi.
The USD three million film has Randeep Hooda, Nandana Sen, Rachna Shah and Ferina Wazier.
