Actor Jai Shankar may not be alive amongst us at present, but his performance still remains fresh in our minds. Well, who can forget the stylish sleek actor termed ‘James Bond of Tamil Nadu’. Today remembering his birthday, actor Lawrence in collaboration with Jai Shankar’s son Dr. Vijay Shankar of Shankar Eye Care joined hands together for a good cause.
Today, on the occasion of his 70th birthday on July 12, a free eye camp for 50 students was held. As known earlier, Lawrence Charitable Trust is been involved in giving aid to the downtrodden people. Added to this, it has been providing financial services to around 36 children from poor family background for their heart surgeries. WARDS is a service delivering organization for all types of disabled persons pioneered by a Visually impaired in the year 1991. The vision of this visually impaired person is to provide the disabled to lead a dignified life in the society. The highest aspiration of this vision is to empower the disabled persons to protect the rights and encourage self advocacy and to avail their full share like any other normal person in every walk of life.
This is an 18 year old organization which is operating its services for mentally challenged persons in an institutional set up with imparting vocational training and simple education for 35 girls and boys (both children and adults) and providing support services to all types of disabled children studying in normal government schools Another salient feature of this organization is providing physiotheraphy services to disable children who are in need at the Institution and to those bed ridden disabled children at homes. On the whole this organization is rendering services to 75 children and adults on regular basis. Another unique feature which is worth mentioning here is about 100 visually impaired persons are trained in inter-personal communication and listening skills in short term courses of 8 weeks duration.
This organization is functioning and operating need based services for the disabled by a team of members drawing from different walks of life.
The financial source of this organization is from different funding agencies, donors, IT Companies and corporate offices. But they are all time bound financial programmes. We are not still financially supported either by the State or the Central Governments. We therefore still depend on the funding agencies to carry forward our services to the disabled.

How r you? This is Tamil Arasan. I am in Bangalore and I heard many services and also i saw your services in sun TV & Vijay TV now I need your help for one girl. She has completed her PUC last year. She get 92.5% of marks. She have no father (still yet don’t know what happen to him) her mother doing daily labour work. She earn only Rs.100/- per day. It is enough for her family maintenance. So that girl cont able to study higher studies. I saw her marksheet, I suggest to do B.E. For this studies, high priority it comes around Rs.16000/- for entrance fee.
