Life Time Achievement award to S P Balasubramaniam
Rotary International District 3230 conferred the Life Time Achievement award to the legendary play back singer S P Balasubramaniam in the presence of music composers M S Viswanathan, Vidyasagar and singer P B Srinivas at a light music concert organised by the Fellowship of Music Loving Rotarians (FMLR) at Kamaraj Arangam in Chennai on Friday. Vintage SPB songs belted out by the celebrity singers under the banner of Sruthilaya orchestra which took the audience to the golden period of 1980s in Tamil cinema.
SPB recalled his first song Aayiram Nilave Vaa in Tamil blockbuster Adimai Pen and profusely thanked matinee icon M G Ramachandran for the vital break. RI - District 3230 district chairman N M Ilankumaran said Rotary had always worked with the entertainment industry for social causes and FMLR was proud to bestow upon SPB the Life Time Achievement award. Rotary District 320 Governor A Subramaniam said the light music concert was organised for the charitable cause of eradicating polio.
