Mirugam to Strike
Mirugam, starring Padmapriya and newcomer Adhi in the lead roles, the movie hit the headlines ever since Samy reportedly assaulted the actress on the sets for not performing well during the shooting. Following Padmapriya’s complaint, Samy was banned from directing films for a year. According to the director this film will convey a strong message to the society. Speaking about the film on the occasion of its release, Samy says, it is inspired by a real life incident that happened in Thiruvarur in 1970s.
He came across an incident wherein a brutal youth killed his pregnant wife. He laced the story with commercial elements. Cinematography by Ramnath Shetty and Sabesh – Murali’s musical score has given life to this film, Adhi’s dedication towards the role deserves a mention. He toned up his physique, increased and reduced his weight according to the demands of the script. He has some positive comments on Padmapriya as well. Equally appealing was Padmapriya. She has a strong role to play within the script and has done her part well. However, Samy adds that if Padmapriya had extended full co-operation, they would have completed the shooting long back.
