Now it is Gandhi
Kamaraj was Balakrishnan baby. Making a film on the life of the distinguished personality, who remained a bachelor all his life and served the country till his last breath, surely allows no scope for any of the formula stuff that the filmgoer is so used to. And hence offers the investor absolutely no commercial guarantee. But undeterred by the risk, Ramana Communications has taken up such a venture.
Now it is once again Gandhi. His Mudhalvar Mahatma, as the title tells you, will have the Mahatma returning to play Chief Minister — more in the Munnabhai mould. But this film is little more serious and is based on the increasing suicides of farmers in the country. The Mahatma comes back after one such death. How he strives to redress the situation and succeeds is what will be the crux of this film. The filmmaker has worked on the script for a whole year.
