Oscar Ravichandran in trouble of waters again

Oscar Ravichandran in trouble of waters again

V. Ravichandran of Oscar Films has been facing whole lot of problems and also has been involved in creating problems. Starting his career as a producer with the film Kaadhalukku Mariyadhai, he has been churning out hits after hits. And today, he stands more honorable standing on the shoes of a producer of such a mega-budget movie ‘Dasavatharam’.

Well, the film has been making high waves of expectations among the throngs of far-flung corners of the world. Kamal Haasan donning 10 different avatars was not just the sensational news, but Oscar Ravichandran letting such a big budget amount of more Rs.60 Crores was something stunning for the masses.

But later as the shooting progressed and remained close on the heels of getting competed, the problem started out and got delayed with its release. Controversial stuffs broke out between Kamal Haasan, Director KS Ravikumar and Producer Oscar Ravichandran.

Ravichandran started making plans on his own and never discussed any issues regarding this film. Earlier, few considered it as a jocular part when Kamal Haasan during a press meet replied to a question on Jackie Chan coming for the audio launch of Dasavatharam. He had nothing to say other than he doesn’t know anything about this.

Though we considered it as funny comments from Kamal Haasan, but then it was brought down to light that both Kamal and Ravichandran have been undergoing problems between them. But these weren’t the big deal for now comes a new and bulky problem.

Oscar Film has been using the logo of real Hollywood Oscar and it hasn’t known to their attention. But when Jackie Chan made him present for the occasion of audio launch and now Dasavatharam has become the international project. So they have noticed that Ravichandran has been using their logo over for a long time and now soon will have a case filed against this production house. They have planned to send a Legal Notice to Ravi for the Copyright issue.

So, Ravichandran has to pay fine of big, big , very big amount for the number of films he has been using their logo or else the film Dasavatharam wont be released…

  1. dear kollywood team,
please be informed that mr ravichandran open Oscar film private limited company. and not kucing kurap company.. and oscar don’t have any copyright to sue them on this matter. oscar is big company and going to listing after dasavataram and their image or company logo sure have to get approval from the India business registration department. please don’t publish fault news. thanks a lot

  2. You morons

how much u got paid from kalaipuli daanu the A******E….y trying to create trouble for such a movie.Oscar does not hold any copyright or trade mark for their symbols if so can you please show me the same.Your kollywood team sucks to the core.

  3. Hi

Think Positive. Always good things come to you. But Oscar Ravichandran always thinks that his movie Dasavatharam must collect money even one rupee more than Sivaji. If he thinks like this, his movie will get flop. But this is my thought. He should change his thoughts immediately. Otherwise god also will not help him.

  4. THAT’S TRUE.OSCAR RAVI IS FULL OF JEALOUS ABT ANOTHER MOVIE.KAMAL IS A GOOD ACTOR, AT THE SAME TIME EVEN A CHILD KNOW OSCAR RAVI’S FILM CAN’T COME EVEN 30% OF SIVAJI’S TOTAL COLLECTION @BOX OFFICE.

  5. I wonder at ur imaginative journalism.

    Think twice b4 writing anything.

Kamals only fault s that he s from tamilnad and with out much support he always excel.

Think if whole tamilnad support he l come up with many new ideas.

If u dont want to support dont do that but 4 gods sake

    dont ever discourage any.

    Humbly urs

  6. DASA s sure to beat sivaji’s collections easily and now itself it has collected around 60 crores (the making of the movie) by distribution rights!!! and it’ll easily beat sivaji !!! but y do u create such stuffs in ur website, this s a complete false news!!! better luck next time, kollywood team!!!

  7. Who told that the dasa movie has already fetched around 60 crores, No one is coming forward to take the movie for the quoted price by oscar ravi. So he has decided to release the movie by himself. And Regarding kamal, He is a good actor and he is talented. His bad time ravi became his producer.
Anyways it cant beat sivaji’s record.

  8. While one is not sure if this news is true, but there are other websites that has quoted this news too…….We will have to wait & see what turns out…

  9. Its not that no one is coming to takethe movie , but ravichandran always releases his films under his banner only.So don’t bluff that no one is coming to take the movie.

  11. Dasavatharam’s Box Office Collection Analysis
Published on: 17 Jun, 2008, 0205 hrs IST,Sonali Krishna, ET Bureau
    a) Coming to the domestic market or rather the regional market, Kamal Hassan’s Dasavataram raked in Rs 3 crore in Chennai, and Rs 21 crore for the whole of Tamil Nadu. In the non-Southern markets, which got about 80% occupancy, the film grossed about Rs 60 lakh in the first three days of its running.
The film is anticipated to rake in close to Rs 100 crore as its theatrical revenue at the end of this week, as Chennai theatre owners state that the bookings for the next 10 days are house-full. If compared to Rajnikant’s Sivaji the film grossed over 25 crore in its first one week. Given the current figures, Kamal Hassan is currently one up.

    b) Kamal Hasan’s Dasavatharam has taken flying start in Andhra Pradesh. Although the film has not received rosy reviews and feedback, the initial collections for the film are extraordinary. The film has got biggest openings in Kamal’s career.
In Hyderabad, the film has witnessed near 100 percent collections in the first three days - Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It has released in 34 theatres in Hyderabad and Secunderabad and all the shows recorded houseful at all centers.

    c) Kamal Hassan’s Rs 165 Crore magnum opus Dasavatharam, released in at least 50 theatres across Kerala on Friday, is already causing jitters to the Malayalam film industry. The Tamil film is running to packed houses with tickets being sold in black for a minimum of Rs 500. Buzzes are that the film will be soon dubbed in English and other universal languages too.

    d) In UK Box Office Dasavatharam just missed the top 10 in it’s opening weekend (June 13- 15) by a meager $3247 dollars (US Figures) and opened in 11th place. The Total collection for the weekend was $246,777 (US Figures) or Rs.1.05 Crore. As it had the 2nd highest opening ever for a Tamil Movie there in a record 19 Screens for a per theater average of $12,983.

    Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/uk/?yr=2008&wk=24&p=.htm

    e) In Malaysia Box Office Dasavatharam has opened very strongly at number 2 position with an amazing collection of $601,037 (US Figures) or Rs.2.56 Crore in it’s opening weekend (June 12- 15) As it had the 2nd highest opening ever for a Tamil Movie there as well in a record 58 Screens for a per theater average of $10,363.

    Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/malaysia/?yr=2008&wk=24&p=.htm

    f) This is a historic moment for all of us from South India to be very proud of. As Dasavatharam has placed 7th in the overseas weekend box office for the week ending June 13-15. This data is taken from a well known authentic infact one of the leading box office reporting sites in the world called Boxofficemojo.com. Dasavatharam is the First Time a Tamil Movie has ever been placed in the top 10 at the International Box Office chart being published in this website with a total collection of $4,632,719 (US Figures) The collection equals to approximately 19.7 Croes for 3 days.

    Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/weekend/?yr=2008&wk=24&p=.htm

    g) Dasavathaaram (also spelt as Dasavatharam) has not only lived up to the hype it created but it has, in fact, surpassed it. The film has witnessed a never-seen-before opening and is still sustaining the same tempo even after completing almost two weeks in theatres.

Some theatres are running 45 shows during the weekends. In total, it is said that nearly 400 shows are running in the city over weekends. There is a house full board outside theatres on weekends for all shows. If one does not book tickets in advance, then surely he or she will be reading the house full sign at the entrance instead of watching the film.

The business that the film does on weekdays is incredible! Theatre occupancy is anywhere around 90% on weekdays. It looks like Dasavathaaram is making people take leave from their work or study just like IPL did!

Indeed this is an epic from Kamal Haasan!

    http://tamil.galatta.com/entertainment/livewire/id/Dasavathaaram_ruling_the_box_office_16398.html

    h) In UK Box Office Dasavatharam on it’s 2nd weekend (June 20- 22) is in the 19th position with a collection of $88,311 (US Figures) or Rs.37.63 Lakhs. The drop of 64.2 % is the norm for all Tamil Movies being released there. It will without a doubt become the 2nd Highest Grossing Tamil Movie ever there by next weekend behind Sivaji although this is the only “overseas” market where it has no chance of catching up to Sivaji’s gross. As Dasavatharam is clearly way ahead in terms of “overall” collection in all other territories combined. But More on that later. So in two weeks at the UK Box office it has collected a total of Rs.1.82 Crore!
    Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/uk/?yr=2008&wk=25&p=.htm

    i) In Malaysia Box Office Dasavatharam on it’s 2nd weekend (June 19-22) is rock steady with a collection of 394,001 (US Figures) or Rs.1.68 Crore. The 2nd week hold in Malaysia is the best ever for a Tamil Movie. Another strong hold next week and it will have an excellent chance of becoming the Highest Grossing Tamil Movie in Malaysia of all time beating Sivaji. So in two weeks at the Malaysia Box office it has collected a total of Rs.5.15 Crore!
    Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/malaysia/?yr=2008&wk=25&p=.htm

    j) In it’s 2nd weekend (June 20-22) at the International Box Office Dasavatharam has placed 11th (again a record for a Tamil Movie) as reported by Boxofficemojo.com with a collection of $3,416,778 (US Figures) or Rs.14.56 Crore. Which brings the total collection of Dasavatharam from 13 territories to $ $11,653,212 (US Figures) or Rs.49.67 Crore in just two weeks.

    Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/weekend/?yr=2008&wk=25&p=.htm

Summary: When you compare the “Overall” Box Office Collections of DASAVATHARAM to Sivaji from last year during the same time frame it becomes very clear who is in the lead clearly…it is DASAVATHARAM BY MILES! Here’s the Link for Sivaji’s International Collection reported by the same Boxofficemojo.com after 2 weeks from 13 territories (same as Dasavatharam) from last year (2007).

    Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/weekend/?yr=2007&wk=25&p=.htm

As you can see the collection figures of Sivaji was $3,705,252 (US Figures) or Rs. 15.8 Crore. Whereas the Box Office figures for Dasavatharam after the same time period from the same amount of territories is Rs.49.67 Crore. Therefore it can easily be proclaimed as the Highest Grossing Movie in the History of Tamil Cinema and one of the Biggest ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTERS ever to come out of India with collections from it’s home state “TAMIL NADU” still to be added. Assuming the Budget as reported by various medias as well as in interviews given by the director of the movie and the producer Mr. Aascar Ravichandran is somewhere around 65-70 croes. The overseas collection in another 2 weeks itself will surpass the production cost of the movie therefore whatever it makes back at home are pure profits. If one were to make an educated guess of the total collection of DASAVATHARAM including all the languages it had dubbed and released in, the televisions rights, audio sales and future dvd sales of the movie the final number will be earth shattering. A BLOCKBUSTER OF EPIC PROPORTIONS ANY WAY YOU LOOK AT IT.

Great deal of research and time has spent on putting DASAVATHARAM’S BOX OFFICE REPORT TOGETHER as we want all the medias reporting on DASAVATHARAM TO HAVE “AS MANY OFFICIAL AND AUTHENTIC NUMBERS AS POSSIBLE.” Which is why there are various different sources included in this report in addition to one primary source. Bad Reviews, Mixed Reviews or Excellent Reviews never decides the fate of a movie at the box office. It can certainly help or hurt it a little bit but it’s ultimately the paying public who are the judges when it comes to which movies becomes a BLOCKBUSTER or a Flop. In the case of DASAVATHARAM the public has given it two BIG thumbs up and welcomed it with open arms despite a continuous effort from a lot of people from different sectors to downplay it’s success at the Box Office….the actual numbers however tell an entirely different story altogether which cannot be ignored.

One of the World’s BEST ACTOR MR. KAMAL HAASAN has done INDIA very proud by not only acting in TEN different characters but also writing the story, screenplay and dialogues for his ambitious project. We must all salute and applaud him for always trying to experiment and for never giving up in his quest to take INDIAN CINEMA to the World Stage.

We kindly request you to take a look at all the facts and figures provided here and after careful review of your team members to inform the public in any and all ways you see fit to the real status of this RECORD BREAKING BLOCKBUSTER CALLED DASAVATHARAM.
