Prestigious Golden Globe Award goes to A R Rahman

A.R. Rahman won a Golden Globe for his score in Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire” on Sunday, becoming the first Indian composer to strike gold at the annual Hollywood awards. The story of a “Slumdog” becoming a millionaire through a Q&A contest and portraying the events of his life that made him learn the answers to the questions in the contest has captured the hearts of many and the slew of awards is just another indication of the movie’s success.

A.R.Rahman’s music is a major highlight of the movie and works synergistically with some amazing direction from Danny Boyle. The Golden Globe Awards are given out by some 90 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. . The Indian presence at Golden Globe was even greater this year with Shah Rukh Khan presenting an award; another first. Slumdog millionaire has also won the Best Screenplay award for Simon Beaufoy. The movie has become a phenomenon in the last two months and has won over 55 awards so far and is expected to fare well in the Academy Awards as well.
