Swami and his New Flick
Swami, who was banned by Tamil Film Producers Council for allegedly slapping actress Padmapriya in the sets of Mirugam. A director slapping the lead female actor for “not emoting” is nothing novel in the charged sets of Tamil shoots Actress Revathy was allegedly slapped by director Bharathiraja during the shooting for the climax scene of her debut film. Now over a period of time the council has revoked the ban. Swami is getting ready with his next Untitled project. This movie is based on the traditional game of Tamilians.
Actor Rajkiran has been roped in to play the lead role in the movie, while Aathi, Kalabhavan Mani and Ganja Karuppu are also in the cast. The female lead role is yet to be finalized. Swami is well known to the Tamil speaking public. He’s the director of ‘Uyir’ where the heroine lust after her brother-in-law. When questioned about his choice of subject, he boldly said Satyajit Ray’s ‘Charulatha’ had a similar story line. With this abhorrent evaluation of Ray’s classic film with his junk presentation, Swami brought a slur on Ray’s reputation. His earlier films include Mirugam and Uyir (Life).
