Teji Bachan Cremated in Mumbai
The cremation of Teji Bachchan, mother of Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, was performed at Juhu. The cremation of Teji Bachchan, wife of late Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and mother of Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, was performed at Juhu on Saturday. According to reports, a priest from Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi had been called in for the funeral rituals. Teji’s funeral procession was a 20-minute journey from the Bachchans’ bungalow Prateeksha to the Juhu crematorium. Security was beefed up. Teji died on Friday in Lilavati hospital in suburban Mumbai after prolonged illness. She was 93. She was in the Lilavati Hospital for almost the whole an year and was shifted to the ICU on Thursday night after her condition deteriorated.
According to reports, she dies due to multiple organ failure. The Bachchan family was at the hospital as the new broke. Teji’s body was later taken to the Bachchan residence. Friends including Subrata Roy, Anil Ambani, Amar Singh, Danny Denzongpa, Sonali Bendre were present with the family to extend their support.
