Udhiram production cost go up to Rs 3 Crores

Shankar who made his debut as a producer of the thriller film Silandhi which was directed by Aadhi was made at a budget of Rs 60 Lakhs. But this film made a profit to the tune of Rs 3 Crores and 30 Lakhs in Tamil Nadu. The Telugu rights were for Rs 8 ½ lakhs which in turn fetched Rs 1 ½ Crores. After this Shankar started producing the film Udhiram under the banner G Company. The story of the film is similar to Hollywood film Apocalypto. The whole story happens in a dense forest. The budget of the whole film was fixed at Rs 1 Crore and 75 Lakhs.

The shooting of the film commenced in Thalakonam forest areas. The climax sequence was shot for 21 days. Two cameras were used for shooting the entire film. But for the climax scene three cameras were used. An important scene which features in this film was shot in Bangalore Airport for 2 days. The rent for the airport was Rs 3 Lakhs per day. Since the art of state technology was used in this film, the budget exceeded twice the original budget fixed. Rs 3 Crores has been spent so far.

New faces Jagath and Santhani are doing the lead roles. Leema is the second heroine. Mahesh Varma from Mumbai is donning the villain role. S Vivek Kumar is handling the camera. Shankar has written the story, screenplay and dialogues. He is also directing this film apart from producing it. The shooting of the film is over and the post production work is going on.
