Vallamai Thaaraayo gets U Certificate

Vallamai Thaaraayo a film written and directed by Madhumita is all set for release. With several short films — including ones that won awards from the BBC and at other international film festivals — to her credit, Madhumita went on to pursue a course at the New York Film Academy.

Post education, she returned to India to assist director Goutam Vasudeva Menon in films such as ‘Vettayadu Vilayadu’ and ‘Pachaikili Muthucharam.’ ‘Vallamai Thaaraayo’ is produced by Nalini Sundararaman and Thirusakthi Sundararaman. The camera is handled by Raja Rajan and art is by Nandakumar. Music is scored by Bharadwaj. The film revolves round emotions and relationship, what with a wife seeking divorce on the grounds that her husband is good. The lead pair has turned in a great performance. Parthipan and Chaya Singh have done a remarkable job.

Karunas’s comedy is another highlight of the film. The cast includes Anand Raj, Kuyili, Rajalakshmi, and Devipriya. One of the highlights of the film is a ‘Kolattam’ song. The opening sequence of the Kolattam song has a single 1.5-minute-long shot. The song is written by Andal Priyadharshini and sung by Janani Bharadwaj, Jaya and Baradwaj. The song uses sounds created by everyday k itchen items. The film revolves around emotions and relationships. The film’s post-production has been supervised by technical director, Vijay Venkataramanan, who has been trained and also has work experience in Hollywood. The entire shooting, including the songs, was shot in 50 days. There are 10 songs in the album and one is a repeat number but sung by different singers.

The Regional Censor Board members were flabbergasted for Madhumita’s performance as a director, for avoiding scenes that would educe their protestation, and her method of presenting sensitive matters in a restrained but effectual manner. The Board has passed this film without even a single cut. It will be released with U certificate.
