You too Venkat Prabhu…
First, as out of our personal concern, we would like to apologize for wrong appraisals of certain films and its directors. For instances, Venkat Prabhu and Director Jeeva for their recent films Dhaam Dhoom and Saroja are swaying at the box offices. But, before couple of days, one of the best critics in Bollywood handed us with couple of DVDs, ‘Red Corner’ and ‘Judgment Night’. We had to regret soon after watching these DVDs for these were the greatest replicas that our filmmakers have done.
Venkat Prabhu who boasts about making trendsetting flicks seems like should have DVDs of ‘Judgment Night’ and Hindi Movie ‘Sunday’. It was all their own intentions of diverting our attention saying that it would as ‘Babel’ and ‘Vantage Point’. Well, the concept of four friends making their way to watch a cricket match and getting wedged between unexpected situations over one night was the exact at Judgment Night. The only difference is that Saroja is about cricket match while Judgment Night is for a boxing match… And if you want to spot the exact story of Judgment Night, glimpse it across the reviews. The concept of One day about a girl getting drenched in serious situation was taken from Sunday played by Aayisha Takia.
Red Corner was the exact story where Director Jeeva had taken into the lines of Dhaam Dhoom. Jeyam Ravi breaking into the medical stores and getting accessories were quite the same as ‘Bourne Ultimatum’…
So, there’s lot and more we would discuss in the later issues…

in reply to li,you are the one who has to grow up to evaluate evidence before a conclusion , than the other way around and also to appreciate original talented minds.
the plot and important scenes are way too similar. going to watch a sport, the fatal turn to a poor nerighbourhood, the vehicle coliding with a victim shot by a gang, the gun wielding gang chasng these guys. the director has only added the kidnap element of the girl. if this is not a copy, then what is?
the lighter elements of saroja does not impress me at all. poor timing, poor mixture of seriousness and comedy on more than a few occasions.
I agree with Saraganathan, li & others, Saroja is a feel good and entertaining movie. It has certainly reached its targeted audience and may of us have enjoyed this refreshing movie. The plot may be similar but Venkat has crafted it in a way that it appeals to Tamil/Telugu film goers especially youths which i
believe is the intended audience.
So what if it is copy of Judgment Night, why targeting on Saroja whereas countless other Indian movies have copied other Hollywood movies, and dare i say many of them did not too well and offer nothing new to movie goers.
I hope Kollywood Today will be more responsible in coming out with this sort of damning articles. As fellow responder li said,
“please grow up!”

I’ve watched judgement night and a hundred other thrillers, none of them have the laghter, feel gud, lighter elements of Saroja.
Now imagine, the four in Saroja are going for a friend’s wedding in HYdrabad or on a business conference, or for a 100 reasons you can think of….. Does it make any damn addition or significance change to the story? just bcos the trip is to watch a sport in both movies… it doesnt mean it is copied…
So, Kollywood today, please grow up!
How does it matter whether a cat is black or white as long it entertains? Similarly how does it matter whether a movie is copied or not as long as it entertains the target audience?
dr ilayathalapathi vijay rocks
and one more thing, the author tells “one of the best critics in Bollywood” is there anyone like that in india? all the critics assh**es r writing reviews only for money from producers……… and i liked the part i.e “one of the best critics in Bollywood handed us with couple of DVDs” ’cause bollywood guys copied almost every hollywood movie…………
hi all, most of u guys r from software industry and what r u doing all day, simply cut copy paste. because u have to finish ur work. similarly our directors watching some movies from hollywood or any foreign movies and get inspired from that and they want to make a movie out of it. we have give a start for anything, otherwise we have to watch only “larger than life” movies of assh**e stars like vijay, ajith etc…………
The film may be a copy but it entertains the audience well.he has taken the central theme from hollywood and mixed the right elements.but u think of vijay films he just copies from telugu movies and doesnot try newly.this fellow is one who destroys tamil cinema by using the same formula of four fights and five speedy songs.even rajini is trying to do something different.so we must not discourage films like saroja.you better stay away from watching stupid vijay movies
