Alas! It’s a great disappointment for not just Vijay fans, but for audiences who expected a lot from Director Dharani. Director who earlier rocked with blockbuster flicks like Dhill, Dhool and Ghilli has completely presented us with a film that has nothing attractive. All throughout the film, you have the lots of absurdities that will get you annoyed. Well, we are sure even the surest fans of Vijay would been greatly discomfited. Vijay jumping from the height of 150ft bridge and getting hold of a running train at high speed.
The film opens with tycoon Suman and Ashish Vidhyarthi as local MLA at a village in Andhra Pradesh troubling a big group of lay people as their slaves for digging diamonds from the ground illegally. Manivannan is one among them and unable to bear the suffering, he bursts out in anger assuring the baddies that his son will surely get it retaliated.
The scene immediately switches over to 20 minutes of visual kind of advertisement for Car racing, where we have the hero Vetrivel (Vijay) winning it and then followed by a title song where he shakes his leg with Malavika. But sooner, trouble falls on his way when a stranger along with his group asks him and his family to vacate the house.
Situations force him to fleet for Malaysia along with his friend played Vivek as a carrier and over there he has to face unexpected sequences that will let the hidden dark mysteries revealed.
Getting on with the performance, Vijay does a stupendous job when it comes to stunts and dance, but you know something? A person jumping from a long height, breaking a tree by kicking it is something that will make you laugh instead applause for. If Vijay continues to go for same kind of stuffs, then we are sure that Ilayathalapathy will overtake Telugu Superstar Balakrishnan who does more unbelievable comedic stunts like Kicking the track and re-routing the train from one platform to another and Mahesh Babu who breaks the wall into bricks just with a fist of hand.
Trisha on the other hand has nothing when compared to Jyothika’s performance in Dhool as directed by Dharani. Her dance is horrible and emoting to the situations are also not up to the expectations. Vivek is the only convincing part for the film and he makes you laugh to peak with his rib-trickling comedy tracks right throughout the first half. But the greatest flaw is Dharani putting an end to him in the second half.
Suman looks so bubbly that he is not apt for the negative role and it would have been nice if he was termed with starting lines of the song ‘Molu Molunu’.
Though couple of songs has been tuned in well like title song ‘Dandana Darna’ and ‘New Year Song’, other songs aren’t placed properly and it looks odd and makes you yawn with few. And you get vexed with the stunts, for they form major portion of the film. If stunts in the film are extracted, then duration of the movie would be hardly for 60mins.
Few traces of Telugu movie Bangaru directed by Dharani and stunt scenes imitated from Mahesh Babu Starrer Nandu are easily blatant.
As a whole, Kuruvi is a movie that can be watched for those who love lots of stunts without a gripping story and screenplay. A treat for diehard fan of Vijay and nothing special from Dharani who raised our expectations and now dashing it all…

Hello,guys I am not actually a vijay fan, but I watched this movie on the first day and I throughly enjoyed it.I am not sure why they have used excessive words like”Refund your tickets”. this is not the way you write the film reviews. If the movie is not your standard, then just write a negative comments about what is not good in the movie or not.

vijay done the best to this film, its like stylish film for vijay - like Pokkiri. There are some abnormal things, ofcourse, but for a 3 hour, this is value for money.

Vijay acted and danced well in the movie…
He (Vijay) enjoys giving such commercial films to Tamil Nadu and his fans… He has told this in his interviews often… He always tells, whenever he produces films under his own banner he’d take risks in his make-up, story and other stuff…This is acceptable…
My Doubts.
1. Some films will be produced planning for a flop… The producer will make his black money to white by accounting loss in making the films…Whether ‘Kuruvi’ or ‘ATM’ comes under this category? If Yes, why actor like Vijay acts in such movies?
2. Looks like most of the scenes in ‘Kuruvi’ is similar to Telugu film ‘Chathrapathi’… Why a director cum screenplay writer Dharani should do this? How did the producer accepted this?
3. How Vijay accepted the film when it didn’t have a strong story baseline with stereotypic screenplay?

அப்பாவுக்கு மலேசிய பெரும்புள்ளி ஒருவர் கொடுக்க வேண்டிய பணத்தை வசூல் செய்வதற்காக குருவியாக (உயர்ரக பொருட்களை நாடு விட்டு நாடு சேர்க்கும் வேலை) மலேசியா செல்கிறார் நாயகன் விஜய். போன இடத்தில்தான் புரிகிறது அந்த பெரும்புள்ளி (சுமன்) மலை விழுங்கி மகாதேவன் என்பது.
அப்புறமென்ன வில்லன் கண்ணிலேயே விரல்விட்டு ஆட்ட, வில்லங்கத்தை விலைக்கு வாங்குகிறார். இடையில் வில்லனின் தங்கையான த்ரிஷாவிற்கு விஜய் மேல் காதல் ஏற்படும் காட்சிகளும் எந்த படத்திலும் காணாத (புதுமை). சுமன் வைத்திருக்கும் டைமண்டை ‘சுட்டு’க்கொண்டு சென்னை வரும் விஜய்க்கு அப்பாவும் அவரை சேர்ந்த ஆட்களும் கொத்தடிமைகளாக ஆந்திராவில் இருக்கும் தகவல் வர, அடுத்த ஷாட்டுகளில் கதாநாயகனின் அதிரடி கடப்பாவையே கலங்கடிக்கிறது. நூற்றுக்கணக்கான அடியாட்களை ஸாரி தடியாட்களை தவிடுபொடியாக்கி சக்ஸஸ் சாகசம் புரிவதுடன் கொத்தடிமைகளுக்கும் நமக்கும் கிடைக்கிறது விடுதலை.

கதைக்கு ஒத்துவராத செட்டுக்களில் உதயநிதியின் காசெல்லாம் கரியாகியிருக்கிறது. சரி அதனாலென்ன ‘போனால் போகட்டும் போடா…’ பாடலை விநியோகஸ்தர்களுக்கு டெடிகேட் பண்ணிவிடலாம்.

Kuruvi has much going against it - the story is not remotely credible, music is intolerable, the acting is unbearable, action scenes unendurable and overall the movie is just insufferable.
Kuruvi’s story - if you dare call this garbage a story - is an act of breathtaking inanity.
A venal politician Konda Reddy (Ashish Vidyarthi) has found diamonds beneath government land in Cuddapah and seeks to exploit that for personal gain with a bunch of poor laborers that he has forced into virtual slavery and beats and kills brutally with an ugly posse of henchmen led by a cartoon called Cuddapah Raja who stubs his cigarettes on the palms of young boys.
Hello, will someone please tell Kuruvi’s director Dharani that this is the 21st century. Involuntary servitude and slavery in movies are so 20th centuryish and went out of fashion decades ago. Che, che.
Konda Reddy’s partner in crime is his friend Kocha (Suman), an Indian gangster based in Malaysia and the elder brother of a young girl Devi (Trisha), who is not keen on getting married to a comical mini-thug called Suri with a chronic inability to shoot straight.
And Vijay is Vel, son of a contractor Singamuthu (Manivannan), who is one of the many men that the villain Konda Reddy has kept under his unyielding yoke in a quarry.
Tamil movie directors - and presumably fans too - do not consider a film complete without either Vivek or Vadivelu to provide some cheap, vulgar laughs. So you have Vivek in Kuruvi, playing Vijay’s sidekick. But Vivek fails to provide much joy or even those cheap laughs in Kuruvi because much of the dialogs here are so bizarrely banal.
Dharani, who directed Vijay’s successful 2004 film Ghilli, is the architect of the badly-made Kuruvi.
Kuruvi is such an idiotic movie that in one scene toward the end when Vijay is in the midst of fighting Konda Reddy’s goons, director Dharani suddenly introduces a song-dance scene of Vijay-Trisha. And what is worse - Mozha Mozhannu is one of the worst song-dance scenes we have seen in recent memory with the music pathetic and the dance disgusting.
In Kuruvi, there are just no limits to director Dharani’s nonsense, be it in the music, story, dialog, stunts or dances.
Besides directing Kuruvi, Dharani also takes credit for the story and screenplay. Thank God, Dharani didn’t also act. Guess, we’ve to be thankful for small mercies in Tamil movies these days.
In another boring and repetetive feature in Vijay’s movies, he is again introduced as a sportsman in Kuruvi too (In Ghilli, Vijay was a Kabbadi player, in Azhagiya Tamil Magan, an athlete and in Kuruvi, a car race driver driving a jalopy!).
Kuruvi is Vijay’s second lousy movie in the last six months - his last movie Azhagiya Tamil Magan should have been more aptly titled Asingamana Tamil Magan. His latest movie Kuruvi should more appropriately be called K*&thi.
Both Vijay and Trisha do a mediocre job in Kuruvi. While expectations from Trisha are always extremely low, Vijay sinks to a new low in Kuruvi. If you thought Vijay was bad in Azhagiya Tamil Magan, he’s worse in Kuruvi. Whether in fight scenes or the song-dance scenes, Vijay displays none of that fire and verve in Kuruvi that he so nicely brought to the screen in Pokiri.
As for that non-actress and gangrenous appendix on the body of Kollywood a.k.a. Trisha, we can only say that whoever unleashed this bimbo on the big screen must have a wholesale sadistic temperament. Why torture in retail when you can easily torture millions in wholesale by just casting Trisha in a movie?
Devoid of any grace, wholly lacking in acting skills and missing a pretty face, how this bathroom video fame horror show Trisha manages to survive in Kollywood is a mystery known only to Muruga.
While Trisha is bad in virtually every Kuruvi frame she appears in, she sets a new low with her awful performance in the Then, Then song-dance sequence. You can daub all the lipstick and makeup on a pig but at the end of the day it is still a pig. Right?
Whoever designed Trisha’s hideous costumes must have previously worked only with quadrupeds (four-legged creatures) in a circus because the actress looks terrible in most of the dresses she wears in Kuruvi.
Cast as screaming neanderthals lording over a bunch of clownish, criminal underlings, Ashish Vidyarthi and Suman utterly fail to terrify but totally succeed in irritating the audience with their crude overacting.
Like the rest of this piece of garbage, Kuruvi’s music is devoid of any merit. While none of the songs are impressive, Dandaana Darna (in the beginnning) and Mozha Mozhannu (toward the end of this nightmare) are plain horrible because of their terrible picturization.
And the action scenes in Kuruvi - disgustingly bad! The picture of a small-built Vijay simultaneously fighting a bunch of better-built, better-equipped goons is not for weak eyes. When Vel takes on Cuddapah Raja toward the end of Kuruvi, the fight scene hits a new nadir in the annals of Tamil movies.
Some parts of Kuruvi were filmed in Malayasia but it may have well been filmed in a public toilet for all the good it did.
With their bad trifecta of unimaginative stories, mediocre acting and lousy music, most Tamil films are caught in a time warp that is extremely frustrating for movie fans.
All in all, Kuruvi is an egregious offense against all notions of taste, decency and entertainment.
If you plan on missing just one Tamil movie this year, this worthless piece of crap called Kuruvi is the movie to avoid at all costs.
Alas! It’s a great disappointment for not just Vijay fans, but for audiences who expected a lot from Director Dharani. Director who earlier rocked with blockbuster flicks like Dhill, Dhool and Ghilli has completely presented us with a film that has nothing attractive. All throughout the film, you have the lots of absurdities that will get you annoyed. Well, we are sure even the surest fans of Vijay would been greatly discomfited. Vijay jumping from the height of 150ft bridge and getting hold of a running train at high speed.
Trisha on the other hand has nothing when compared to Jyothika’s performance in Dhool as directed by Dharani. Her dance is horrible and emoting to the situations are also not up to the expectations. Vivek is the only convincing part for the film and he makes you laugh to peak with his rib-trickling comedy tracks right throughout the first half. But the greatest flaw is Dharani putting an end to him in the second half.
Suman looks so bubbly that he is not apt for the negative role and it would have been nice if he was termed with starting lines of the song ‘Molu Molunu’.
Though couple of songs has been tuned in well like title song ‘Dandana Darna’ and ‘New Year Song’, other songs aren’t placed properly and it looks odd and makes you yawn with few. And you get vexed with the stunts, for they form major portion of the film. If stunts in the film are extracted, then duration of the movie would be hardly for 60mins.
Few traces of Telugu movie Bangaru directed by Dharani and stunt scenes imitated from Mahesh Babu Starrer Nandu are easily blatant.

I watched the movie on theaters in Trivandrum, Kerala.
It was expected much even in Trivandrum especially the team that made the block buster GHILLI. but it was a really disappointment. From here on the vijay and other stars also have to realize that the movie is taken from average hit to blockbuster like ghilli or Pokkiri, not just by the dance sequences and songs but the strong story and picturization Kuruvi lacks bothe of this. Songs/ fights/dances came second at first u need a story a strong backbone like.
Kuruvi is better to be said a KOONI KURUVI (Bend and down)
Vijay if u do these type of things u will not end up as
Rajini Kanth but surely Vijaya Kanth (more easily).
I am not just disappointed with Vijay but also with Dharani. I even can’t realize that its a Dharani movie the man who gave us hits and Blockbusters like Dhil, Dhool and Ghilli. Its not even making a mark of the new comming rookie director.
I do want to say to Dharani, u want to take Telugu movies take that but don’t take telugu movies in tamil names. I really thaught it was a dupped Telugu movie with tamil stars.
Keep in mind Vijay no loss is a loss unless u realize the mistakes of it. so keep it trying but not movies like this.

Useless movie. I am not a fan of anyone. I want to be neutral and straigh forward. None of my friends liked this movie. I think vijay should not try any more remakes of Telugu. I think this movie will be super hit in telugu, but not in tamilnadu as here audience are different and requires some meaningfull act. Vijay try to do nice movies in future. Better luck next time.
