Cinematography: Balasubramaniam
Throw away your cognizance, sit back, relax and watch ‘Kutty’. Yeah! ‘Kutty’ has we already blabbered out, it’s a remake of yesteryear Telugu movie ‘Aarya’. Precisely, Jawahar Mithran hasn’t modified the script with accordance to original version. But he has likely added some elements so as to engross the Tamil audiences.
‘Kutty’ doesn’t boast about having an exceptional storyline. It’s a clichéd love story set in backdrops of college campus.
Kutty (Dhanush) is a devil-may-care youngster who has no big plans in his life. He remains aplomb despites any pressures thrown on him. It’s naturally about falling in love with a belle of the ball Geetha (Shriya Saran). But it’s not so easy to sweep her off the feet. Indeed, another guy Arjun (Sameer), son of a politician (Radharavi) has been proposing her for a long time. Finally, when he threatens about committing suicide, Geetha accepts his love as there aren’t any options left.
Well, Kutty makes as a compelling challenge: He assures about helping Arjun and on pars winning the heart of Geetha, which is almost impossible….
For those, who have already watched Allu Arjun’s ‘Aarya’, this remake isn’t going to be a great surprise. Of course, the film has a spell of an unparalleled tale which is neither a sort of one-sided-nor-triangular love story. But director Jawahar Mithran fails to capture our senses as he was with ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’. First 20mins into the film, things are believed to be a repeated regularity and screenplay becomes slightly sluggish… But as the conflicts pop-up between the lead characters, the narration turns to be gripping.
Getting on with performance, it’s Dhanush stealing the show with his casualness. Looks like Dhanush is confident with such roles that are close to hearts of ‘B’ and ‘C’ centres. Shriya Saran sans skin shows – can you term it a special surprise? Definitely, but still she fails to perform well and stumbles down at many points. Kudos to debutant Sameer! The handsome guy does his job well. Dhanush keeps doing well on hilarious quotients, Aarthi and Srinath offer some refreshing moments.
Musical score by Devi Sri Prasad is a mere disappointment and he could’ve used the original tune of ‘Aa Ante Amalapuram’ for the train song. The cinematography offers a rich visual treat while editing isn’t up to the mark.
On the final note, ‘Kutty’ is filled with some light moments, which maybe resent by multiplex audiences. But, if this film is watched without any expectations, it can be a film that’s worth watching once.
Bottom - Line: Goes Up and Down
Verdict: An average fare…

kutty semma mokkai movie.dhanush trashing bricks, pipes and all semma comedy.better dhanush do some real stories not like this.can anybody believe dhanush trashing bricks, pipes.after padikkathavan now kutty.second consecutive flop film.i dont know how this film ran well in telugu?very bore movie
Kutty is just an average movie. Though Dhanush’s performance will keep u glued to ur seats, the weak narration and screenplay which keep on dragging will make u squirm towards the end. This is not exactly a new venture, and impressions of Kadhalukku Mariyadhai can be seen at many places. But still, it is worth a watch!
better watch goa………..
A better and homely girl can be chosen for heroine.. Shreya is worst in acting and face expressions.. KUTTY CANT BEAT ORIGINAL AARYA IN ACTING..

I lovd dhanush in pollathavan ad yaaradi nee mohini, expected the same in kutty, but dissappointed..dhanush has acted in a diff style, but poor story line,it doesnt throw much light.
Dhanush you are awesome in the way you are, just be the same.and i think he has become more thinner, which makes hard to belive that he fights up with 3 r 4 villians..he ws better in yaaradi nee mohini ,but more thinner in kutty..
