Great hopes were raised among Vishal fans and now their hopes are not failed for Vishal has come up with another film of his own style. Boopathy Pandian has tried something to give away a mix of all commercial items that’s gonna center at B and C centers. Compared to his previous film Thiruvilaiyadal Arambam, there are more improvements in his presentation.
Vishal roping up with his own style has come up with different approach by performing comedy tracks. On the part it would be a disgrace if great Kannada actor Devaraj is not mentioned for he has done a wonderful job by performing a negative role and Ashish Vidhyarthi for making a great attempt on the part of comedy along with Oorvasi.
Adding proper proportions of comedy, romance, actions, sentiments to the screenplay, the first half of the movie moves in a jovial way with uproarious manner while the second half with a thrilling pace till the climax.
The film is about an youngster Anbu (Vishal) who stays in Pudukottai dwelling happily along with his fans and problem arises when his friend’s father is assaulted by local area councilor. Greatly moved by this, he vividly hits back the councilor which makes him enter into prison. After getting into court, the judge issues him conditional bail that every day for a month, he has sign at Malaikottai Police Station and his uncle Kandasamy (Ashish Vidhyarthi) is a police officer over there in that station.
As he enters the town, he is pushed to fall into love at first sight when he sees Malar (Priyamani) feeding crows. Then it’s the same old formula of hero going behind heroine and proposing his love for her, but things are quite different from this point. Malar annoyed by Anbu wants to avoid him and says that she is already in love with another person. When asked who is that lucky person, she simply points out at a Ajay who is a local don and as Anbu congratulates him, Ajay harasses her. When Anbu gets to know that it was all a lies, he retaliates Ajay for harassing her.
It is now he gets to know that the person he hit is the brother of local don Palani (Devaraj) and now how he fights against the encounters he meets forms the crux of the story.
When compared with Paruthiveeran, Priyamani hasn’t done anything different and that may be due to the reason that less importance is given to her role. But appearing in glamorous costumes for the song sequence is the only job she has done and other than this there is nothing much to define about her acting.
Best highlight of the movie the comedy tracks that are performed by Ashish Vidhyarthi and Urvasi throughout the film. Getting onto the negative trait of the film, Boopathy Pandian has not given importance to all the characters and the film would been more interesting if he had utilized Devaraj in a more speculative way.
Music by Mani Sharma is a good commendable job, but seems like he didn’t pay any attention to background scoring. Remix of Ae Aatha Athoroma would have been done in an enhanced manner. Editing and cinematography have paid their contribution to the quality of a commercial movie. Kanal Kannan’s stunts are awesome and we feel that there is a good chemistry between Kanal Kannan and Vishal, because stunts do well between these two.
Boopathy Pandian giving away a mix of both his qualitative comedy script and Vishal’s aggressive stunts has succeeded with Malaikottai.
Verdict: Malaikottai is a good family entertainer that can be watched to relax, forget all your worries and enjoy.
