Review - Thollaipesi

Cast : Vikramadhitya, Priyanka, Aarthi, Divya, Nizhalgal Ravi, Prem, Karunaas and others
Producer : Blue Water Movie Makers
Director : Panneer Selvam
Music : Shantha Kumar
Genre: Drama

Director K.Panneer Selvam seems to have observed how cell phones play crucial roles in a layman’s life. Technological advancements can be for constructive purposes as well it has got many negative traits and the film Thollaipesi centers on this concept. The first ten minutes of the flick moves on with this concept and gives an interesting impression on the audience, but gradually gets diverted from the 20th minute.

The story centers on the life of Vedha (Vikramadhitya), a playboy even after entering into marital vows with Anitha (Priyanka) and continues to an illegal relationship with Aarthi (Aarthi). Things become worse when this adulterous relation gets revealed to his wife with a text message in Vedha’s mobile…

Deeply distressed by his wife’s separation, he turns away from all his blunders and concedes to his wife for the things made up in the past. But nothing moves her heart and she further gives him another shock by sending divorce notice.

But whether he does get re-united with his wife or not forms crux of the story.

Vikramadhitya’s performance is not commendable but he has to improve a lot with both his facial expressions and body language, especially during the emotional scenes. Well, that’s not same with Priyanka as she as done justice to her role. Karunaas’ comedy tracks don’t help the film.

Nothing special to say about the director and it would have been nice if he had self-questioned what is the intention of making this film? As veteran director Martin Scorsese said a film is all about meaningfully conveying something, Panneer Selvam has to consider another question has he conveyed anything meaningful here?

Songs are not appreciable and the most annoying thing is the background music by Shantha Kumar.

As a whole, Thollaipesi has failed to hit bull’s eye and you can watch this film if you want to waste your time…

Verdict : Not a worth watching movie
